Senior Accountant

Southern New Hampshire University is currently seeking a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant is responsible for documenting financial transactions by compiling and analyzing financial information, preparing entries to accounts, documenting business transactions and preparing compliance reports. Independently perform complex professional accounting responsibilities, including but not limited to the reconciliation of accounts.

Essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:

  • Reconciles accounts and charges by collecting and analyzing data monthly
  • Assists in preparation of work papers for inclusion in external financial reporting
  • Assists with preparation of financial reports to ensure their integrity, completeness, and accuracy
  • Makes recommendations regarding the accounting for reserves, assets, revenue recognition and expenditures by reviewing and analyzing activity and accounting alternatives
  • Satisfies internal and external auditor requirements by preparing work papers, reconciliations and revenue/expense analyses for the time period being audited
  • Ensures compliance with GAAP
  • Coordinates with other areas of Finance and outside departments as needed to ensure accuracy of information
  • Develops and maintains internal control practices and procedures
  • Recommends financial process changes as needed in accordance with best practice
  • Assist with financial statement preparation and consolidation
  • Independently performs special projects, research and analysis as assigned
  • Assists management in the review of reconciliations performed by other staff accountants

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor s degree in Accounting or equivalent job experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Understanding of accounting processes, procedure and internal controls
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master s Degree
  • CPA designation

Work Hours:

Typically Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm with flexibility to meet business demands as needed.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
