Senior System Administrator

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Senior System Administrator to join our Application Operations team within Information Technology Solutions. The Senior System Administrator is part of an operations team responsible for the availability and performance of the production environment across the university, as well as the pre-production environments. As a member of the team, you will work closely with developers, dev ops, infrastructure engineers, and business units.

Essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:

  • Provide technical support for production incidents and problems
  • Provide expertise in data management for application administration
  • Fulfill application requests for service from business users escalated through the help desk
  • Review application logs for errors
  • Monitor application operation for performance, data integrity, and availability
  • Install and configure software for new applications as well as upgrades
  • Ensure applications meet N-2 standard
  • Set up accounts and user permissions for assigned applications
  • Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
  • Troubleshoot issues and outages
  • Ensure security through access controls and role identification
  • Upgrade systems with new releases and patches
  • Document knowledge in team Knowledge Base for cross training

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of experience in system administration or similar role
  • Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science, IT Engineering, or related field
  • Proven experience with databases, patch management, and/or software development
  • Ability to design and create scripts for maintenance activities
  • Experience managing vendor relationships for problem resolution
  • Demonstrated experience in Cloud computing
  • Ability to multi-task in a high paced environment
  • Ability to explain technical and complex topics to non-technical people
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to troubleshoot and solve problems

Work Hours:

Typically Monday through Friday 8:00am-4:30pm with flexibility to meets business demands as needed.

Travel is estimated less than 10%, but may be required to travel to other SNHU locations in the Manchester area. Off-hours work required periodically.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
